About Travellon

Who’s Behind Travellon

I’m Clint Edgar, a travel writer and published author based in Oxfordshire, UK. I started Travellon to share the kind of practical, no-nonsense travel information I always wished I had before trips — actual costs, real transport options, honest opinions about whether a place is worth the hype.

I’ve been travelling for over 30 years and have visited more than 70 countries across six continents. I fly with budget airlines regularly (six or seven times a year with Ryanair alone), which is how I ended up writing some of the most detailed baggage allowance guides on the web. When I’m not writing about airports and hand luggage dimensions, I’m usually testing travel gear on long-haul flights or walking around a new city with a notebook.

I’m also the author of two published travel books:

  • Dog-Friendly Weekends — a guide to the best dog-friendly getaways across the UK
  • Dog Days Out — day trips and adventures you can take with your dog

Both are available on Amazon, and they grew out of years of road-tripping around Britain with my dogs, figuring out which pubs, beaches, and B&Bs actually welcome four-legged guests.

What Travellon Covers

Travellon publishes three types of content, all based on firsthand experience:

Destination Guides

Detailed guides to cities and countries across every continent, covering what to see, where to stay, how to get around, and what things actually cost. I focus on honest assessments — if a popular attraction is overpriced or overcrowded, I’ll say so.

We cover major destinations like London, Paris, Tokyo, and Barcelona, as well as less-visited places across South America, Asia, and beyond.

Airline and Airport Guides

Baggage allowance breakdowns for every major UK airline, cabin bag size rules, and airport tips. I check these against official airline policies and update them when rules change — which happens more often than you’d expect.

Travel Product Reviews

Honest reviews of travel pillows, luggage, travel adapters, and other gear. I test products on actual trips before writing about them. If something falls apart after three flights, you’ll hear about it.

How I Work

I visit the places I write about. When I recommend a museum or warn about a tourist trap, it’s because I’ve been there. I don’t rewrite Wikipedia or regurgitate press releases.

I update regularly. Travel information goes stale fast. Prices change, attractions close, airlines update their policies. I revisit and update guides to keep them accurate. Every article shows when it was last updated.

I’m honest about the downsides. Every destination has drawbacks. If a neighbourhood isn’t safe at night or a famous landmark is a let-down, I’ll mention it.

No paid placements. When I recommend something, it’s because I think it’s good. I use affiliate links where relevant (they help keep the site running), but they never influence what I recommend.

I publish guides for destinations across:
