Quest Travel Kettle Review: Compact & Portable

I started carrying a travel kettle after too many hotel rooms with either no kettle or one that looked like it had never been cleaned. The Quest 35690 fits in the corner of my suitcase, weighs almost nothing, and lets me make tea or instant coffee without leaving the room. The dual voltage is essential – I have used this in the US, across Europe, and in Asia without any issues. The two included cups are basic plastic but serve their purpose. For solo travellers or couples who need their morning caffeine fix, this is a worthwhile investment. It boils half a litre in about four minutes, which is enough for two cups.

Quest 35690 travel kettle

The Quest 35690 is a compact travel kettle measuring 17.5 x 17 x 8cm and holding 0.5 litres. It runs on dual voltage (110-240V), which means it works in the US, Europe, and Asia without a converter – only a plug adapter is needed. Power is 600W, which boils half a litre in around four minutes. Two plastic cups are included in the box.

The body is black plastic and lightweight. The 600W element is adequate for the 0.5L capacity – do not expect the speed of a full-size kettle, but it is fast enough.

There is a water level indicator on the side, an illuminated power switch, and an auto shut-off when the water boils. The 360-degree rotational base and cordless design are standard for this type of kettle. There is also a removable filter and cord storage under the base to keep the cable tidy in transit.

Dual voltage

The dual voltage feature is the reason to choose this over a standard kettle. Most hotel kettles are single voltage and only work in the country they were bought in. This one switches between 110-120V and 220-240V, so it works worldwide. Pair it with a travel adapter for your destination.

Plug type

The kettle comes with a UK Type G plug. For use abroad you will need the appropriate plug adapter for your destination.
